After being snowed out last month, the Lexington Choral Festival returns on March 19 at 3:00 p.m at Hancock Church. Featuring choirs from 10 different area faith communities, the afternoon is a celebration of music and sharing across religious and cultural divides. Included will be groups from a variety of Christian, Jewish, and Hindu traditions.
Now in its 12th year, the Festival features each group sharing music from their own tradition, and then has all the groups join in singing one piece together. Joyous, moving, and thought provoking, it celebrates the incredible diversity of religious expression to be found in Lexington. Participating this year are: the Bhakti Center of Lexington, Church of Our Redeemer Episcopal, First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Hancock United Church of Christ, Lexington United Methodist Church, Pilgrim Congregational Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Brigid Catholic Church, Temple Isaiah, and Trinity Covenant Church. The festival was founded by Dr. Robert Eaton of First Baptist Church and has grown ever since. This year’s festival is co-chaired by Lisa Doob, Cantor of Temple Isaiah, and Mark Morgan, Director of Music at Hancock Church.
The Festival is free and open to all, with a reception to follow. It will take place at Hancock Church, 1912 Massachusetts Ave, on the Battle Green in Lexington. The church has free parking behind the building, and there is also street parking on Bedford St. and Mass Ave. Our building is fully handicapped accessible.
