The Hancock Concert Series is pleased to present violinist Aija Reke and flautist Ilona Kudina, the Baltic Duo. Baltic Duo brings impressive contemporary classical music repertoire for violin and flute from the three Baltic States – Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. The Baltic states are celebrating one hundred years of independence this year and Baltic Duo celebrates with a concert program that will introduce wide variety of contrasting musical styles, including dreamy and pastoral compositions by Zemzaris and Kõrvits, a minimalist piece by Valančiūtė, a new composition written at 2018 by Dombrovska which was specially composed for the Baltic Duo, a very modern sounding solo piece for flute and CD by Kupriss, melancholic “Monologue” by Porietis and an edgy, dissonant duo by Pavasars. As the only non Baltic piece, a classic by Rolla will resonate with the dreamy and versatile concert program to celebrate Baltic music in America. $15 suggested donation at the door.
